A Website is Hard to Keep Up

DJ / 19 Years Ago

Over the last year I have discovered just how difficult it is to keep up this website. Before starting school full-time, I already felt that I did not spend enough time keeping this site up to date. Now that I am in school full-time, it is far, far worse. My last blog entry was around eight months ago. Not that I have delusions that many people care.

There are over 1200 pictures on this site now, but counting the backlog of pictures yet to find their way here I come up with over 450. On top of that, I am working on a database for my pictures that will hold discriptions, titles, and other information. Considering that I believe the photo album is the most important part of this site, and that database will improve that section, it is an important, but time consuming, upgrade.

Many other projects await, as well as keeping up with regular updates to movie and music reviews. I wish to replace the current website menu with a Flash version that will allow me to eliminate frames on the site. That will help the site be more palatable to search engines. I have a great vision for this site, although it is not likely to be visualized for at least another year.

So much to be done and so little time to do it! I feel I could work on this site as a full-time job and not do everything I wanted for months. Starting in late November, when I graduate, I expect work on this site to increase significantly. If you regularly check this site for any reason, that is the time to start checking it out more often. Until then, sorry!

Things never go the way you think
It is hard to believe that the last time I posted, nearly 16 months ago, life was so vastly different. We had just moved to Peoria... and now we've been gone from Peoria for 9 months! Just 40 days after I was let go by Liberty Mutual, Kelley was let go by Caterpillar. That led to some dark months
