When it rains, it pours
Forgive me for the cliched title, but it does fit. The last few weeks have been a test of our resolve and patience when it comes to things, and more importantly, things breaking.
It started a few months ago with the floor of our master bathroom tub developing a crack. Since it is a one piece, the entire tub/shower has to be replaced. That will be done soon at a cost of several hundred dollars.
Then, around a month ago, our projector just suddenly died and would not revive. I knew the bulb was getting close to its life expectancy, but it was not there yet. I went ahead and got a new bulb (very expensive), and what do you know - that did not fix the problem. It must be a mechanical problem with the projector. So, I bought a newer version of the projector on eBay so that I could still use that bulb. After 4 hours of use, that projector died. Luckily we got a refund for that at least. We finally decided to purchase a new projector that has a mail in rebate for a spare bulb - a very good deal.
Next, a few days ago our digital camera stopped working. The lens is stuck in the extended position and will not retract. Turning on the camera has it tell us to turn it off and back on again, which of course does nothing.
Finally, the day after that the shifter cable on my car broke, stranding me at the storage area I am using to store our extra furniture and such. I had to walk a couple miles in the cold and get the car towed and then not have a car for two days. Oh yeah, and spent several hundred dollars in repair costs.
During this time, our house is getting painted, resulting in furniture being askew everywhere and general untidiness everywhere. It is a stressful time to say the least, considering I am leaving for tech school in 2 1/2 weeks, and there is so much left to do. I am trying to maintain a positive attitude, but each setback is making it more and more difficult!
