    Kelley has moved
Kelley has moved to Ohio for the duration of my time in Korea. The only downside is that I have not moved yet. But, this is necessary for her to find a job and a place to live. I am not a fan of living down here alone, but I get to go up and see her several more times before I go, including for a near 2 week vacation in just 5 days. I need to use this time to my advantage and I have a lot to do. These times keep getting more and more interesting - now we don't even know for sure if we are going to go to Virginia or if I will retire after Korea! Hopefully we'll know all this for sure by this time next year.

    Patience Test
I admit, I am not good at waiting. I like to keep moving forward. Right now, I am going no where VERY slowly. I am in my first class towards my Transportation and Logistics certification. DJ will sign up for school soon. We will continue to treasure the time we have together as we will be separated all too soon. Make the best of each day. You do not know what is just around the corner.

    The Waiting Game Redux
So, I found out I am going to Korea for a year around 2 months ago. We still don't know where we are going afterwards and we found out this week we likely won't know until the July/August time frame. Not ideal, but at least we know. We'll be in Dayton and Traverse City this July again, and that will be a nice trip before we batten down the hatches and prepare for what the future has in store. It is a exciting time, but it is hard to be patient. Where will we be 2 years from now?

    The Waiting Game
We found out that DJ was not eligible to attend AFIT - school at Wright-Patt Air Force Base. Now, he will move forward with his education goals through Georgia Tech. DJ was unfortunately chosen to work in South Korea. He chose to go unaccompanied for 1 year. This will allow us to only be apart in two 5.5 month chunks with a 30 day break in the middle. We are anxiously awaiting the news as to where we would go after DJ's return from South Korea. Stay tuned.

    Waiting is a challenge
Our family is in a waiting period. We are waiting to see if DJ is chosen to attend school for his masters in Ohio or even CA. We are limited with what we can do (search for a job or begin school) until we know about this decision. It is out of our hands. Now we are just praying for favor. Not much is easy for us right now but we are thankful that we have each other.

    Future Unknown
Life is interesting right now. I do not know the future. It forces you to take life one day at a time. I want the chance to return home and see my family. I do not know what is best for our family. I hope we will have some answers soon. Meanwhile, I continue to study logistics and Spanish. I hope this studying will help me land a job that I enjoy.

    Cleaning the House AGAIN
I am so happy to have finished cleaning the house for the first time in 5 years. It certainly takes time to do a good job. It certainly is not what I call "fun", but it is great when it is all done. It helps me burn calories too. I am all for that right now as I wish to lose the winter weight. If anyone has a secret as to how to limit the dishes from getting dirty EVERYDAY please let me know. :)

    First Day with no E-Z-GO
This morning is nice. I am not getting ready for work. I still have MANY goals for today and in 2015. However, it does not involved busting chops to get out of the door, drive for 30 minutes in rush hour traffic to work.

Today marks the first day of the rest of my life. I will continue to pursue my customs broker license. I know I can do it - the goal is to pass on my first try.

    More changes afoot
So, the big news is that Kelley is quitting her job at the end of the month to focus on earning her Customs Broker License and perhaps some college as well. That is a huge change for us and it will be interesting. I will move to a new job in 4-5 months as well, so our professional future is certainly in flux.

In website news, I am working on a redesign to this site - a massive one, the first for this site in quite a few years. In the process I'll be launching a couple other small sites. I'm also starting a Masters Degree program soon, so busy times are ahead for me, certainly. 2015 will be interesting, indeed.

    Augusta's final phase?
So, I've found out what my next job will be after my current one - I'll be a flight chief (administrative lead for a flight, which is a group of 80 or so Airmen). I think it will suit me and I will be good at it. I'll start that gig around March. That job usually runs about a year or so, but one year after I start that will only be around 8-9 months before I can be done with the military. Thus, I might keep that job until I am done, which means it could be my final phase in the military and thus ours in Augusta.

Kelley is starting a new academic effort - to get certified as some sort of customs/shipping expert. She is going to have her head in books for the next 6 months studying for that exam. Hopefully, with that certification she'll be able to get a sweet job either here or wherever we end up going.

    Not going anywhere
So, apparently we are not going anywhere - a least not soon. Our 4th attempt to leave Fort Gordon came up empty, so we've somewhat resigned ourselves to being here for another 2 years and change. As a result, we've been able to downshift a bit on the house upgrades, but only a bit - we are getting granite counter tops next since I think it will be hard to sell the house without them. To treat ourselves and make this place a little more palatable, we got a new couch and chair for the living room - a massive upgrade in day-to-day quality of life. We still don't know for sure what is next for us, but we look forward to it, whatever it is.

    Big changes afoot?
Our vacation to Michigan and Ohio was completely amazing! We wish we could continue to carefree like that all the time, but reality called us back. I have the possibility of getting a special duty assignment to Las Vegas and that has generated some massive excitement for Kelley and me, but we still don't know if that is happening for sure yet. Kelley has a job interview today because her job has gone through multiple changes for the worse and we can't count on getting the Vegas gig, so we might still be here for years yet. Hopefully we'll know the path of our near future soon!

    Crazy work days of summer
Work continues to be crazy for both Kelley and I, making it difficult to do a lot more than just endure. Sure, we go to a movie almost every weekend and we are building up for a 9 mile run in July, but these are not super exciting things. Our upcoming vacation to Ohio and Michigan should be awesome, and will be 12 days in duration - a super long time for us! We look forward to visiting with lots of friends and family!

    Master of Sergeants
Well, the long awaited promotion has finally come. It is a pretty sweet feeling, and the paychecks will be cool, too. February was a beast for both of us, with super stressful work, a crazy ice storm, my phone dying, and just a general sense of busy craziness. Thankfully, things seem to be normalizing just a bit, although Kelley is still working way too many hours. We are a month away from our first race of the year, the over the bridge 10k in Charleston, SC. That should be fun. We have a lot of potential trips lined up this year: Traverse City, Chicago, Orlando/Tampa Bay, and maybe even Mexico!

    A New Year?
So, 2014 is upon us already. As always, the previous year seemed to fly right on by. Kelley and I have high hopes for 2014 - we already wrote down a list of goals for the year and have starting planning the trips we are going to take. I will get promoted to Master Sergeant this year and Kelley has some good job related opportunities in the works as well. We look forward to having fun, seeing family, and making lots of progress in our goals. Bring it on, 2014!
