    Declutter
I find myself right now questioning how I spend my time. Every day we must make many decisions. We make more choices than we even realize. I am evaluating my life and taking out things that do nothing but suck precious time away. Life is too short and we must use it to the fullest. I am so happy and

How did I get here from there?
Ever notice how sometimes you find yourself in a place that just a few years ago you could have never predicted it? That is what I find myself in these days. Kelley and I get up on weekday mornings at 4:30 and start working out by 5, usually for an hour. On the weekends we "sleep in" until 6. We now try to eat organic food as much as possible and use more Earth friendly cleaning supplies and stuff. Never would have seen myself like this, but I am more fit and healthy than I have been in at least 13 years and I like it.

Otherwise we are doing well - Kelley is back up and going from heart surgery and loves her job. I am going to take charge of my shop at work in a few months. We are doing very well and loving life. My backyard landscaping project is coming along - I hope to post pictures of that soon.

My sense of smell has changed
I am following Jillian Michael's Master Your Metabolism (MYM) plan and I have fallen in love with this way of life. I just found out there is a store that only sells items that go along with this plan just 20 minutes from my house. This place has a cafe and everything. I am so excited to try new hea

    Back and busier than ever
I have been home for a few days now from my three week business trip to teach a class in Kentucky. I took a week off from work, but that doesn't mean I am just sitting around. I have been massively busy from the moment I got home. Aside from the mandatory catching up with Kelley, I have been doing chores around the house, getting a delivery of bricks and mulch for a lawn project, doing yard work and mowing the lawn, stopping by work to take care of things (have to do that again soon), and a 100 other things.

On top of all that, Kelley is kicking my butt with her crazy workouts. I have been more sore in the last 4 days than I ever remember being for so many days in a row. She is crazy! We just did her latest checkup for her heart yesterday and she has a full clean bill of health and has zero restrictions. Plus, she can stop taking Plavix soon, which makes her bruise really easily. Overall, things are going great and getting better!

    In Memory of Andy
One of the best friends I have ever had, Andy Swan, died yesterday afternoon when his kidneys finally failed him. He had been plagued with medical problems for almost as long as I had known him, but somehow he always managed to stay positive and upbeat. So much so that I doubt many people he came ac

    Goals
Goals... we all have them (well, most of us anyway). Mine tend to more amorphous than most, a feature that often frustrates my wife. She is all about concrete goals and self improvement. So, this blog entry should please her because I am laying out some of my goals for the rest of the year.

    Timing is everything
I am now in Tennessee teaching a 3 week class for work. I got here two days ago and everything is going fairly well for me. My room is decent, big enough, bed is comfortable, very little noise from outside the room, TV is nice, enough channels, shower is hot with good water pressure, etc. The class I am teaching is small, which is good for the first time. Overall, not much to complain about here.

Kelley, on the other hand, is not having such an easy time. Our cable modem seems to have gone on the fritz, killing out internet, and normally that would have been something I would handle, but I can't from here. Then, the day after I leave the smoke alarms need new batteries. Yet another thing I normally handle. It is challenging for me to not be there to fix these problems. Kelley is holding up well, though - I am very proud of her and I miss her tons!

    Challenging Times
Diet - Lifestyle Change - Healthy - These are all topics on our minds these days. DJ and I are most certainly struggling in the area of food. DJ has certainly picked up on the exercise, but is not seeing the results he desires. We are are in a rut that is quite deep. We are not sure how to get out of it. Kelley will be able to start running at the end of April. The question is what do I do for exercise in the meantime? For this month until DJ leaves for his TDY to Kentucky, we will workout on the elliptical or treadmill on M/W/F and do a workout video on T/Th. DJ works on Saturdays right now so I must workout on my own. Sunday is a day of rest, but I think walking together is a good thing for that day. We shall see how things go.

I am back n' better than ever!!!
I recently had heart surgery to repair a hole that was never healed up when I was a baby. It has certainly slowed down my exercise and normal activity for that matter. I am glad to share that I am now getting better. I am back to exercising daily. Because I am not allowed to run until the end of Apr

    Recovery: Challenging
On March 4th, I had surgery to fix a hole in my heart. It was not fun. DJ and I traveled to Charleston, South Carolina for the procedure. We got back home on March 5th. I am now recovering. Some days are better than others. I will wake up feeling fine and then get a dizzy spell. I had to leave work one day because it was so bad. I think that was because I had not eaten enough. I can feel great at night and wake up the next day and need to go back to sleep due to weakness. I am certainly improving. The challenge is where I desire to go full speed ahead, but my body won't let me nor do the doctors agree it is wise. I am learning to be patient and take care of myself. We only have once chance at this life. We must take care of this body we have. Make it last! On another note, I received an extension to complete my medical terminology course. I did not want to give up. I am starting back with that today and start researching about pursuing a masters degree. DJ and I both want to have the degree, but are we dedicated to put in th effort to obtain it? We can do it!
