    Timing is everything
I am now in Tennessee teaching a 3 week class for work. I got here two days ago and everything is going fairly well for me. My room is decent, big enough, bed is comfortable, very little noise from outside the room, TV is nice, enough channels, shower is hot with good water pressure, etc. The class I am teaching is small, which is good for the first time. Overall, not much to complain about here.

Kelley, on the other hand, is not having such an easy time. Our cable modem seems to have gone on the fritz, killing out internet, and normally that would have been something I would handle, but I can't from here. Then, the day after I leave the smoke alarms need new batteries. Yet another thing I normally handle. It is challenging for me to not be there to fix these problems. Kelley is holding up well, though - I am very proud of her and I miss her tons!

    Challenging Times
Diet - Lifestyle Change - Healthy - These are all topics on our minds these days. DJ and I are most certainly struggling in the area of food. DJ has certainly picked up on the exercise, but is not seeing the results he desires. We are are in a rut that is quite deep. We are not sure how to get out of it. Kelley will be able to start running at the end of April. The question is what do I do for exercise in the meantime? For this month until DJ leaves for his TDY to Kentucky, we will workout on the elliptical or treadmill on M/W/F and do a workout video on T/Th. DJ works on Saturdays right now so I must workout on my own. Sunday is a day of rest, but I think walking together is a good thing for that day. We shall see how things go.

    Recovery: Challenging
On March 4th, I had surgery to fix a hole in my heart. It was not fun. DJ and I traveled to Charleston, South Carolina for the procedure. We got back home on March 5th. I am now recovering. Some days are better than others. I will wake up feeling fine and then get a dizzy spell. I had to leave work one day because it was so bad. I think that was because I had not eaten enough. I can feel great at night and wake up the next day and need to go back to sleep due to weakness. I am certainly improving. The challenge is where I desire to go full speed ahead, but my body won't let me nor do the doctors agree it is wise. I am learning to be patient and take care of myself. We only have once chance at this life. We must take care of this body we have. Make it last! On another note, I received an extension to complete my medical terminology course. I did not want to give up. I am starting back with that today and start researching about pursuing a masters degree. DJ and I both want to have the degree, but are we dedicated to put in th effort to obtain it? We can do it!

    Kelley\'s heart surgery
We finally have a date for Kelley's heart surgery: March 4th. We have to drive 3 hours to Charleston, South Carolina and then Kelley has to stay overnight, so I will get a hotel room for myself and Dribble so we don't have to try and find a dog sitter for the spazolski. Please pray that everything will go well.

QB is doing much better now. For a while we thought we might have to put her down as her foot was just getting worse and worse. She got stitched up, no bandage, and new meds and she has seemed to turn the corner.

We have having dinner tonight with friends from small group for the first time. I am excited about the impending release of Final Fantasy XIII. I have been working on this site a buch lately, but I expect that to tail off once that game arrives.

    QB clubfoot and random craziness
Our new kitten, QB, was getting better, but then her foot got worse for some reason, to the point where her tendons were nearly exposed. We took back in to the vet where she got fixed up - now she has a bandaged club foot. She is hobbling around nicely, though, and in good spirits

I just finished 4 weeks worth of two different classes, the last week being an instructor class that had me give a 30 minute lesson of my own creation. It was a brutal week. On top of that, I had a cold the whole week. Hopefully things will get back to somewhat normal this week. We got a new bedroom set which is really nice and make our bedroom a much nicer place to be. Next up is finding some computer desks... and a much needed dose of motivation!

We made a difference to that one
Most of you have probably heard the story about the boy throwing back starfish into the ocean. The father asks him, "Why do this? What difference can you possibly make?" To which the boy replies, "I made a difference to that one." That story has a parallel to our situation. We just saved a 4 month old kitten from certain death. It was a stray hanging out near Kelley's workplace. It has a severe upper respiratory infection and a wounded paw, not to mention being half the weight it should be. We took it to the vet, got shots and medicine for it, and doing what we can for that one to be a healthy and happy animal. We can't save all the animals, we can only do our part. No animal deserves to suffer like that one was.

New Year - New Trials - Lots of Hope
I just returned from my trip to Ohio. My parents helped pay for me to be able to visit them. It was a nice trip. I am so thankful for the chance to go home. I loved watching the Buckeyes win the Rose Bowl game on New Years. My dad and I had a chance to bond a lot as we watched sports all weekend. I spent quality time with my mom reading scripture and praying. During this year, we do not know what the future holds, but thankfully we know the one who does. I can never spend too much time with animals. I loved seeing my brother and his wife along with their furry babies (even though this family are all Bengals fans - you must learn to forgive and accept differences). I will spend this upcoming week recovering from my travels as I watch the Bowl games and spend quality time with DJ as he is now working a more normal shift. I must enjoy each day and not take it for granted.

    Weirder and weirderer
I have been on a midnight shift (9pm to 7am Wednesday through Saturday) and it has been making me strange. It really stinks that I sleep away half of Saturday and Sunday since that takes away massive amounts of family time. I am wide awake at 3am, I sleep and eat at strange times, I have a hard time exercising, and everything seems to be in a time warp. I have to work on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve, and New Years Day. I want to the new year to come so that I will go back on days and become a normal person again instead of this zombie like apparition.

    Challenging Holidays
Our family is struggling as we cope with DJ unfortunately required to work his full 10 hour midnight shift through the holiday season. We are counting down the days till this ugly shift is complete. He will be in class for three weeks and then work 10 hour shifts during the day. His working hours are certainly less than ideal. We are thankful for both of our jobs. Due to DJ's strange hours, we find ourselves trying to savor every moment we are together. We appreciate and cherish each other and that is most certainly a good thing.

    EZCome - E-ZGO
My first week of working at my new job has come and gone and I survived! I was so glad to decorate my desk with Buckeye trinkets. I really feel that it is going to be a good fit for me. I feel that my previous jobs have prepared me for this next step. With the slow job market, I am SO thankful for this one. This first week was rather easy. It is during my second week that I will be trained. I am the International Customer Service Representative for E-ZGO a golf cart manufacturing company in Augusta, GA. I work specifically in the parts and accessories division. I will work with England and China mostly since those are our biggest dealers. As DJ said, good things do come to those who wait. He is so good to us.

Good things come to those who wait
Earlier I wrote about our car breaking down to the tune of $1800. Kelley also had to turn down a job because the pay was very low. Her CD player in her car died as well. Things seemed to be piling up. We persevered, and guess what happened? Kelley got a great job that she starts tomorrow that is a big jump in pay from her last job! We got the car fixed and we are still fine financially even before Kelley starts her job. God came through and blessed us in our moment of need. My work related stresses are dwindling, as well. If you are facing rough times, remember: pray and persevere! You can make it through!

    House Divided
It is the time again. It is time for the rivalry game between Michigan and THE Ohio State University. Despite how the season has gone for our teams this is still a big game. DJ hopes that the Buckeyes will come out flat. I know my team will not take this lightly. We want an outright Big 10 Championship. I believe our defense will show up. The Buckeye offense just needs to not make big mistakes. Saturday will be fun. Let's go Bucks!

    New challenges
Life is always throwing new challenges at you. Kelley's car broke down 1.5 miles from our house on a rainy night. We walked home, got it towed, and are looking at $1800 bill for a broken transmission. Our tenants are going to be 3 weeks late on rent as well. Combine that with working midnight shifts (9pm to 7am) and sleeping through much of the day - that makes daytime errands much more difficult to complete. We are surviving, however, and trying to look at the positive. Kelley has another job interview and my job is getting much easier to deal with.

    DJ Working Midnight Shift
We are faced with our next challenge. DJ must work the midnight shift for the next nine weeks. It was only supposed to be six weeks after his three week class, but the class was pushed back. DJ has never worked these hours before. We are uncertain as to how this will play out. All I know right now is that is a challenge to sleep at night. I toss and turn constantly.

    Happy Birthday to me!
Another year goes by and I am even older now. I had a supremely delicious lunch at a local pizza place (Mellow Mushroom), and will be having some pumpkin peanut butter cheesecake for dessert tonight. I don't feel as old as I am and I think that is a good thing. I am getting in better shape and losing weight. I am working on this site frequently and hope to restart on The Awesome Theory site by the end of the year. I am in a class the next three weeks and it should be a nice change of pace for me at work.
