1. Prayer is communication with/to God. When I pray, I tell Him how thankful I am for various things. (I can never be too thankful, especially because I cannot repay Him.) I make requests not really for physical things, but for help, wisdom, patience, self-control. etc I can pray anywhere. If I am standing at a fax machine at work, I can pray. If I am in my car, I can pray. I am encouraged that as of late, I am praying more. It might not be a huge change, but I can tell that it is more. I
For a long time now I have been saying that I was going to upgrade this site in various ways, and for a long time I have not been doing so. About a week ago that finally began to change. If you notice anything buggy about the site, it is because I am tweaking the look of it and overhauling the guts of it. The end result will be amazing, though. Once the changes are complete, I will write a blog about it and send an email to everyone explaining everything. Check back soon!
We truly are not against Christmas at all. It is just that during this time, life is not normal. We are busy preparing the house for selling purposes. All the while, we are trying to enjoy every minute we have together before DJ leaves for retraining in February. We are watching a lot of movies and trying to reach our goal weight by June 2009 when DJ returns from school. Dribble (our dog) is testing our patience, but also building our character as we care for him.
Contrary to how it has seemed over the last several months, yes. I have been very busy with my other project, The Awesome Theory, that I have neglected this site. The good news is that my work over there has taught me some amazing skills that I can use to make this site MUCH better. The biggest thing will be to make this site much easier to keep up on. I can automate so much more stuff. So, a redesign is coming soon, but the overall look will likely
Anyone who has been here on a semi-regular basis will easily realize that updates have been sparse over the last month or two. There are a couple reasons for this - first, the work to recover from getting hosed by Gisol. Second, I have been working on another site with a friend of mine - The Awesome Theory. It is a humor community site that is pretty hilarious. Please go check it out.
Recent visits to this site may have been met with an "account suspended" notice. Well, the cause was sinister and the reason very lengthy - read the full story. The quick summary is that my old web host tried to scam me and I had to leave for a reputable company. You can never be too careful, and I was not careful enough. As I type this, Kelley is on her way to St. Louis for the Joyce Meyer conference. Other than this scam problem, everything has been going pretty
If you have visited this website lately, you probably noticed that it was down for a while and then when it came back up, it was somewhat messed up for a while. This is a story of why that happened and I hope it serves as a warning to anyone who hopes to start hosting a web site in the future.
The story begins in 2001 when I decided I wanted to have a real personal web site and not some free Geocities garbage. I discovered that flees.com was taken, but flees.net was available and
This summer has been the busiest I can remember and it is not slowing down anytime soon. Since the last update, we went to a pool party, had three large gatherings at our house (one was a BBQ), went to an all day concert event for the 4th of July, several movies, and we just got back from a weekend at Ranch Camp Timberlake, 130 miles West of Omaha. It was a great time that included a camp fire, friends, pizza pies, s'mores, an obstacle course, horseback riding, swimming, the blob, a water slide,
Kelley and I recently got back from a vacation to Ohio to attend her brother's wedding and gosh, it was exhausting. We drove over 20 hours there and back, went to an amusement park, a baseball game, a museum, and a wedding during the course of five days. To read more about the details of our trip, check out this blog entry. We also got new cell phones, Kelley had a group lunch with ConAgra's CEO, I got moved to a new office and found out that I missed my next prom
Vacations sure can be draining, especially when they are like the one Kelley and I recently took. Her brother got married on June 9th, so we traveled to Ohio to attend. We figured since we were in the area we would try to pack in as much extra fun stuff as possible. I would say we succeeded.
We left on Wednesday after work, finally getting on the road around 6:30pm. We stopped in Des Moines to eat at Chick-Fil-A for dinner ( we love that place and there are none in Omaha) and then
