I am following Jillian Michael's Master Your Metabolism (MYM) plan and I have fallen in love with this way of life. I just found out there is a store that only sells items that go along with this plan just 20 minutes from my house. This place has a cafe and everything. I am so excited to try new healthy items.
The one thing that pleasantly surprised me today is that when I walked through the room downstairs at work during lunch people had purchased some Papa John's pizza. I did not like

I have been home for a few days now from my three week business trip to teach a class in Kentucky. I took a week off from work, but that doesn't mean I am just sitting around. I have been massively busy from the moment I got home. Aside from the mandatory catching up with Kelley, I have been doing chores around the house, getting a delivery of bricks and mulch for a lawn project, doing yard work and mowing the lawn, stopping by work to take care of things (have to do that again soon), and a 100

One of the best friends I have ever had, Andy Swan, died yesterday afternoon when his kidneys finally failed him. He had been plagued with medical problems for almost as long as I had known him, but somehow he always managed to stay positive and upbeat. So much so that I doubt many people he came across had any idea that anything was wrong with him. I wanted to take some time here and tell some stories about Andy. If you knew Andy, I am sure many of these memories will make you smile and picture

Goals... we all have them (well, most of us anyway). Mine tend to more amorphous than most, a feature that often frustrates my wife. She is all about concrete goals and self improvement. So, this blog entry should please her because I am laying out some of my goals for the rest of the year.
This is my second try at this entry - I lost it all the first time because my internet connection at the hotel in which I am staying reset like it does once a day. Frustrating to say the least.

I am now in Tennessee teaching a 3 week class for work. I got here two days ago and everything is going fairly well for me. My room is decent, big enough, bed is comfortable, very little noise from outside the room, TV is nice, enough channels, shower is hot with good water pressure, etc. The class I am teaching is small, which is good for the first time. Overall, not much to complain about here.
Kelley, on the other hand, is not having such an easy time. Our cable modem seems to ha

Diet - Lifestyle Change - Healthy - These are all topics on our minds these days. DJ and I are most certainly struggling in the area of food. DJ has certainly picked up on the exercise, but is not seeing the results he desires. We are are in a rut that is quite deep. We are not sure how to get out of it. Kelley will be able to start running at the end of April. The question is what do I do for exercise in the meantime? For this month until DJ leaves for his TDY to Kentucky, we will workout on t

I recently had heart surgery to repair a hole that was never healed up when I was a baby. It has certainly slowed down my exercise and normal activity for that matter. I am glad to share that I am now getting better. I am back to exercising daily. Because I am not allowed to run until the end of April, I am focusing on what I eat. This morning, I tried a new recipe. 1/2 cup of egg beater plain, with a wedge of garlic & herb laughing cow. I heated it up in a mug and topped it off with some salsa.

On March 4th, I had surgery to fix a hole in my heart. It was not fun. DJ and I traveled to Charleston, South Carolina for the procedure. We got back home on March 5th. I am now recovering. Some days are better than others. I will wake up feeling fine and then get a dizzy spell. I had to leave work one day because it was so bad. I think that was because I had not eaten enough. I can feel great at night and wake up the next day and need to go back to sleep due to weakness. I am certainly improvin

We finally have a date for Kelley's heart surgery: March 4th. We have to drive 3 hours to Charleston, South Carolina and then Kelley has to stay overnight, so I will get a hotel room for myself and Dribble so we don't have to try and find a dog sitter for the spazolski. Please pray that everything will go well.
QB is doing much better now. For a while we thought we might have to put her down as her foot was just getting worse and worse. She got stitched up, no bandage, and new meds

I changed the layout of the main page to what you see now - 2 content columns instead of 1, and 1 widget column instead of 2. I also widened the page, and moved the Google search to the header. I added an Amazon search widget and added a lot more options to the registration page.
